Maalangaan Caves in San Rafael, Bulacan

I have been very busy that I got so many backlogs on my blog posts. Anyway, this post is an account of a unique place we went to last Holy Thursday, more than a month ago.

My brother-in-law have arranged a summer outing for his workers, and we just tagged along as soon as we arrived from Laguna. The place is called Maalangaan, with natural spring and cave system in Brgy. Tukod, San Rafael, Bulacan. Coming from Bagong Barrio, it took us about 45 minutes in cemented and rough road to arrive in the area.

Climbing Mt. Manalmon for the Second Time

Not satisfied with our first climb of Mt. Manalmon here, we climbed it again last Easter Sunday, right after our day climb of Mt. Arayat on Black Saturday. My body had not yet fully recovered, but I have to fulfill my promise to my companions that I will bring them to Mt. Manalmon on that day. The summit of the 196 MASL Mt. Manalmon is on the right side of the photo below, while Mt. Gola is on the left side.

Unlike our first visit, there are already many people when we arrived at the jump off site. We met family excursionists and group of mountaineers at Madlum River, despite the low water level of the river. The parking area and the bamboo raft that ferries people on the other side now has fees of Php 50/vehicle and Php 5/pax respectively.

Climbing Mt. Manalmon in Bulacan

Right after Christmas, my two sons, 2 nephews, and I embarked on a fun trek at Mt. Manalmon in San Miguel, Bulacan. After leaving my mother-in-law's home in the neighboring town of San Ildefonso at 5:45 am, we've had a forgetable breakfast of congee in a bus stop along the Cagayan Valley road. Then turning right at a road opposite a Total gas station, we reached Sitio Madlum, part of barangay Sibul along the Madlum river by 7:30 am.
