Lignon Hill and Embarcadero Mall in Legazpi

Lignon Hill in Legazpi City, Albay offers an elevated and one of the best views of the majestic Mayon volcano. It is very near the airport, and its beside the city's wildlife park.

However to avoid inconveniencing the joggers, they only allow vehicles to enter the hill's summit between 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and also after 6:00 pm. If you don't want the strenuous walk uphill, you can ask a habal-habal (motorcycle) to take you at the top for Php 20.

Entrance fee is only Php 2.00 per head. Aside from marvelling at the volcano, visitors can also view the Daraga and Legazpi towns. There is a building at the hilltop, with Chowking fastfood branch, a souvenir shop, and other food shops.

Here is where my 2 boys and myself experienced our first zipline rides, at Php 250 for sitting position, and Php 350 for the superman style. Best time to visit the area is either at sunrise or before sunset. As part of the fee, a photographer will take and print your zipline photo with the volcano as the background.

After having our fill of the night time views and zipline thrill, we transferred to the Embarcadero Mall at the Legazpi port. Its an open-air type of mall with popular shops and restaurants. We were looking for a grocery store in the mall, but we did not find any. Anyway, we decided to try their seaside restaurant overlooking the harbor.

The seaside restaurant has ala carte menu as well as option to order their raw seafoods and cook them for you, dampa-style. We ordered grilled tuna belly, mud crab in chilli garlic sauce, shrimp in tamarind soup, plus rice and 1.5 Lt Coke for only Php 997.

While dining, the customers are entertained by a pianist and 2 singers, to complete the relaxing ambience.
